Arrest made in Omaha home break in and arson that claimed life of elderly man

83 year old Raymond Vasholz and his wife, 76 year old Elizabeth were inside their home near 33rd and Martin Thursday morning when police say a man broke in and set a fire.

Raymond Vasholz was pulled from a burning kitchen and later died at a hospital. Elizabeth Vasholz made it outside but severely burned. She is now in a Lincoln burn center.

Their neighbor, 30 year old Terrance Hale was booked for first degree murder, first degree arson and burglary.

This isn’t the first tragedy for the family. Their daughter Beverly Flynn was killed in the Von Maur shooting at Westroads back in 2007.
