Big Ten will stop playing FCS teams

Wisconsin athletic director Barry Alvarez says Big Ten officials recently agreed to stop scheduling nonconference games against FCS schools. Alvarez, spoke on WIBA-AM┬áMadison, WI. and said, “The nonconference schedule in our league is ridiculous. It’s not very appealing…We’ve made an agreement that our future games will all be Division I schools. It will not be FCS schools.”

Not sure when the agreement would kick in, but an obvious starting point could be the 2014 season with the addition of Maryland and Rutgers to the Big Ten. However, McNeese State is on the Huskers schedule that year on Sept. 6.
