“Caps” off to farmers on National Ag Day

Today is National Ag Day and the state is invited to celebrate agriculture with Governor Dave Heineman, Lt. Governor Lavon Heidemann, State Director of Agriculture Greg Ibach, Ag Committee Chairman Senator Ken Schilz and with Nebraska Farm Bureau President Steve Nelson. Nelson says farmers have one primary job and that is to feed the world.

Nelson adds putting food on the table is a joint effort. About one-third of all jobs in Nebraska are agriculture related ranging from food production to food sales.

The group of Nebraska dignitaries visited the Tecumseh Town Square Tuesday morning. They will be at Fricke Farms on South 48th Street in Papillion at 11:30 and at 1:45 they will be at the Temme Dairy Farm in Wayne.

Creighton University Economist Dr. Ernie Goss and IANR Vice Chancellor Ronnie Green will be joining the group in Papillion.
