After a record seven players shared the first round lead at the 2013 U.S. Senior Open at Omaha Country Club, one emerged from the crowd on Friday. 55-year old Michael Allen shot a 7-under 63 to jump out to a five stroke lead after play on Friday. According to USGA.com, it’s the largest 36-hole margin in Senior Open history. Allen’s 63 was one stroke off the championship’s 18-hole record, which Loren Roberts scored seven years ago at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, KS.
Allen’s two round total of 130 is also three better than the previous U.S. Senior Open record of 133 which was held by eight.
