Pelini is impressed with young Husker defense (AUDIO)

The Huskers have many pieces to replace on the defensive side of the ball, but cornerback appears to be a position that is providing Bo Pelini with depth. After practice on Tuesday evening, Pelini went out of his way to single out senior Stanley Jean-Baptiste. The one-time wide receiver says he thinks he’s figured it out.

A freshman newcomer that could be playing on the Blackshirts is Nathan Gerry, a Sioux Falls, S.D., native that has really impressed Coach Pelini up to this point in fall camp.

Senior Brodrick Nickens has also impressed Pelini so far in camp, after making the transition from offensive lineman to defensive tackle in his last season as a Husker.

Another defensive tackle that has shown some promise is sophomore Aaron Curry. It will be vital for the Husker defense to find good production out of the defensive line during the 2013 season, and according to Pelini, once Curry finds some consistency he could be a key player.
