As far as getting the team ready for this Gator Bowl, Pelini pointed out that with the season ending in late November, he felt it was important that his team take some time off before getting back into practices. A month and half worth of prep time is now cut down to just a few weeks, when you consider finals and a break for the holidays.
The time off helped most of the team, with the exception of Taylor Martinez, who will most likely miss the game. With Taylor out and a little more time to prepare that will offer the offensive coaches an opportunity to garner a game plan that is more suitable for Tommy Armstrong Jr. and Ron Kellogg III.
