UNO says students with losses from fire are top priority

University of Nebraska – Omaha officials continue to work with the students displaced by last week’s fire at Scott Village.

Director of Communications Erin Owen says their needs are their top priority. She says they continue to assist those students in replacing personal items, electronics and clothing. She says they are also providing mental health services to all students but particularly those impacted by the fire.

Owen says UNO’s facility crew is working with a contractor, an architect and their insurance adjustor to determine the future of the building. Not time frame is set as to when that determination will be made. Dozens of students were displaced after last week’s fire that was started by a discarded cigarette.
