UNO fraternity homeless for a good cause

It is going to be quite an experience for Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity members at the University of Nebraska – Omaha this week. They are partnering with the Omaha Salvation Army in a five day event to raise awareness about the homeless and to collect food to restock their pantries.

Spokesperson Susan Eustice says UNO sorority members this morning built a village out of cardboard boxes in a parking lot at Crossroads Mall at 72n and Dodge Streets in Omaha. The fraternity members will be sleeping in the boxes this week and collecting food donations.

Donations of food in March and April will have Feinstein Foundation Challenging Grant funds added to the total. Last year the Just Can It drive collected more than 37,700 food items. The goal this year is 45,000.
