Wayne State’s offense wins spring scrimmage over defense

Spring football came to an for the Wayne State football team at Cunningham Field in Wayne with the White team (offense) taking a 21-0 victory over the Black team (defense).

The White team got on the board on their second drive of the game as quarterback Zach Osborn found tight end Joe Trouba on a 12-yard pass play with 7:11 to go in the first quarter, giving the White a 7-0 lead following Tyler Lindsay’s PAT kick. ┬áThe offense posted two more scores in the second quarter to make the final 21-0 as Osborn connected with wide receiver Adam Stark on a 38-yard scoring strike followed by a Rashad Trimble 23-yard run with 8:11 to go in the second quarter.

The second half of the contest was situation drills as the teams ran several red-zone and goal line sequences to close out the spring game.

Wayne State will open the 2014 season at home on Saturday, September 6th at 1 p.m. against Bemidji State.
