Update: two killed in fiery Sarpy County crash

UPDATE:  Friday’s accident on Highway 50 in Sarpy County claimed two lives.  The driver of a pick up, 25 year old David Gressley of Lincoln, was pronounced dead after being air lifted to the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.  A passenger in the pick up, 19 year old Tyler Armknecht of Johnson, died at the scene.  The driver of the semi, 66 year old James Kastanek of Syracuse, was taken to a hospital for evaluation and testing.

 

A person has been killed in a fiery crash on Highway 50 near Louisville.Sarpy County Sheriff’s Department Captain Dan Williamson reports a pick up ran a stop sign very early this morning and hit a semi-tractor trailer hauling cement, driving north on Highway 50.

The pick-up wedged underneath the semi, which dragged it about 300 feet. The pick-up caught fire.

A passenger in the pick-up was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was pinned for several hours, before being extricated, then taken by helicopter to a hospital in Omaha. That person’s condition is not known. The driver of the semi was also taken to a hospital and is reported in fair condition.

Names have not been released. Highway 50 will remain closed until early afternoon.
