Husker volleyball leaves today to embark on 19 day trip to Japan and China

The Husker volleyball team leaves today for a 19-day trip to Japan and China that will cover five cities. The last time the Huskers went to Asia they played university and junior teams. Now, John Cook’s young team will be playing professional squads, sponsored by businesses. The Huskers are prepared knowing they may not win a single game while over there, but Cook is hoping the experience outweighs the results. The Huskers have had success following international trips, winning NCAA titles following international trips in 2000 and ’06.

Nebraska will hold its annual Red/White Scrimmage on Saturday, Aug. 23 at the Devaney Center.  The Huskers will open the season at the Devaney Center with the AVCA Showcase that features NCAA regional semifinalist Florida State and NCAA regional finalist Stanford. The Huskers will face the Seminoles on Friday, Aug. 29 and the Cardinal on Sunday, Aug. 31.
