Stingray Beach is now open at the Henry Doorly Zoo

It is opening day for StingrayBeach at Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo. Spokesperson Mandi Krebs says StingrayBeach is an 80 foot long saltwater pool that contains 38 stingrays and a number of horseshoe crabs.

Krebs says this is an interactive exhibit and visitors are invited to touch the stingrays and feed them. There is no danger of stingrays injuring visitors because their barbed stingers have been removed.

There is an admission fee to Stingray Beach – $4 for non-members and $3 for zoo members. Fish to feed the stingrays can be purchased for an extra dollar.

Stingray beach is located by the Red Barn Park.
