A 46-year-old Lincoln man stabbed in the chest during a birthday party at his home late last night died of his wounds early this morning.
The Lincoln Police Department reports officers arrested a relative at the scene and recovered a knife they believe to be the murder weapon.
Police spokeswoman Katie Flood says police were called to the residence in southwestern Lincoln at around 10:30 Tuesday night. The man had been stabbed in the chest.
Emergency crews rushed the victim to a nearby hospital. He underwent surgery, according to Flood, but died shortly before three o’clock Wednesday morning.
The suspect has been charged with second-degree murder as well as using a deadly weapon to commit a felony.
Flood says investigators will request a search warrant for the house.
No names have been released nor have police disclosed how the victim and the suspect were related.
