Former Hastings man sentenced to 13 years on child porn charges

A former Hastings man has been sentenced to 13 years in prison on child pornography charges.

Federal prosecutors says 39-year-old Todd Tackwell both received and distributed child pornography.

The case began when Immigration and Customs Enforcement moved on a criminal organization that ran a child porn website. Tackwell attempted to become a subscriber, which led investigators in 2008 to visit Tackwell at his home in Hastings. Tackwell admitted that he possessed child pornography.

A forensic examination of Tackwell’s computer hard drive revealed sexually explicit videos featuring children, which led to an indictment in 2010.

Tackwell will be required to serve a life term of supervised release after serving his time in prison. He also will be required to register as a sex offender.
