A 26-year-old Sidney man will not get out of prison for at least 35 years after being sentenced for the sexual assault of a minor.
Cheyenne County Attorney Paul Schaub reports Joshua Woolery has been sentenced to serve between 20 and 40 years in prison on each of two counts of first degree sexual assault of a child. The sentences will run consecutively and carry a mandatory minimum of 15 years on each count, making Woolery not eligible for parole until serving at least 35 years.
Woolery earlier accepted a plea bargain for instances which occurred in July and September of last year. Police arrested Woolery in October of 2015. He initially was charged with sex felony charges of sexual assault of a minor between the ages of 12 and 16.
The plea agreement came before Woolery face a jury trial scheduled for the end of March.
