This time next year there should be a new lake and park open to the public in Douglas County. This is a Papio-Missouri River NRD project and it is located near 168th and Fort Street in west Omaha.
NRD’s Marlin Petermann says the project includes a 220 acre lake that will have a boat dock and stocked with fish. It will also have a five mile hiking and biking trail.
Petermann says they are at the halfway point on the lake. He says, “The number one priority is providing safety from flooding from downstream residents in the watershed.”
