Baseball teams at Bellevue, York and Midland prepare for Tuesday’s start of the opening round of the NAIA Tournament.
Bellevue and York have been assigned to the bracket in Grand Rapids Michigan. Bellevue (47-9) is the top seed after winning the North Star Conference and the Bruins will play the winner of the opening game between fourth seeded Clarke (Iowa) and fifth seeded Saint Xavier of Illinois. York (44-15) will make a fifth appearance in the NAIA Tournament. The Panthers are seeded second and play third seeded and host Davenport of Michigan.
Great Plains Conference champion Midland (41-18-1) is the fourth seed in the Jamestown, North Dakota, Bracket and opens on Tuesday against fifth seeded Avila of Missouri. Midland coach Chad Miller credits his seniors for getting the Warriors into the tournament for the third time in program history.
“They have been such an important part of taking this program to another level”, said Miller. “Our goal is to be competitive nationally and to be in the dfiscussion as a national contender and they have done a tremendous job of elevating the status of the program.”
The winners of the brackets will advance to the NAIA World Series in Lewiston, Idaho.
