Scotts Bluff County Detention Center director Ron Johns has submitted his resignation.
Assistant Director Patricia Miller has been appointed acting director by the Scotts Bluff County Commission.
Earlier in the week, a federal judge dismissed a lawsuit filed against Scotts Bluff County in the death of corrections officer Amanda Baker. Baker was killed in February of 2014 by a juvenile inmate at the jail. Dylan Cardeilhac was convicted of second-degree murder after attacking and choking Baker. Baker died two days later.
Judge Laurie Smith Camp found the county was not liable in Baker’s death.
