A special safety initiative is underway this long holiday weekend and runs through the last long holiday weekend of the summer driving season.
The Nebraska State Patrol hopes to reduce the number of fatalities on Nebraska roads during the “100 Days of Summer” initiative.
The special initiative began this Memorial Day holiday weekend. It runs through the Labor Day holiday weekend.
During the initiative, the Nebraska State Patrol Field Services Division will hold at least one traffic safety enforcement operation somewhere in Nebraska.
“We want everyone who travels our roadways to have a safe enjoyable experience,” Nebraska State Patrol Superintendent Brad Rice said in a written statement released by NSP. “Our traffic safety laws exist for your protection. Help us keep our roads safe through voluntary compliance.”
Planned traffic enforcement activities are listed on the NSP website; click on the “NSP Enforcement Activities” link on the homepage.
NSP is also participating in the nationwide “Click It or Ticket” campaign through Sunday, June 5th.
NSP troopers as well as communication specialists will put in overtime hours during the campaign, enforcing Nebraska’s safety belt law. The Nebraska Office of Highway Safety provided NSP a $28,390 grant to help offset the cost of the overtime hours.
