The Nebraska State Board of Education today voted down a proposed resolution against Obama Administration guidance on the use of school restroom use and other facilities by transgender students. The resolution would of allowed each district to make their own policies.
The board voted three for and three against the resolution with two absent. The resolution failed. The board then went into executive session to discuss the issue further. A motion that would have moved the issue to the Policy Committee for review also failed.
Earlier this year, President Obama ordered all schools to permit transgender students to use school restrooms and other facilities that matched their gender identity.
