Two inmates have escaped from the Lincoln Correction Center.
The Department of Correctional Services reports escape procedures have been activated. State and local police agencies have been notified.
According to the department, 37-year-old Armon Dixon and 52-year-old Timothy Clausen are considered dangerous. Both were convicted of sexual assault. They should not be approached. The public is encouraged to immediately make an emergency 9-1-1 call to law enforcement if they spot the two.
It appears the two escapes were involved in a crash at 18th and F Streets in Lincoln earlier in the day. State patrol troopers chased a pick-up reported stolen in the area. They pulled off the pursuit after it entered a populated area. A few minutes after the pursuit ended, the truck crashed into a parked vehicle.
Two men ran from the truck.
The patrol, assisted by the Lincoln Police Department and the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office, cordoned off a five-block perimeter surrounding the crash.
A count today at 12:30pm confirmed neither were present.
One of the two people sitting in the parked vehicle was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
