Hundreds of Nebraskans gathered at Omaha’s Memorial Park Sunday evening to mourn the victims of the Orlando night club shootings. Christina Arellano is president of Heartland PRIDE and says PRIDE events are scheduled to take place this coming weekend throughout the metro.
Arellano says, “Anyone planning on attending this year’s PRIDE, I want to personally insure you that we are going to do everything we possibly can to make sure this is a safe event for you to be at. We have always been a gated event. We are going to talk to Aksarben Village for additional security just for that purpose. Please don’t be afraid to come out.”
PRIDE events will be held at Stinson Park Aksarben Village at 67th and Center Street. The PRIDE parade is Saturday, June 25th starting at 10 a.m.
There were nearly a dozen speakers from several organizations throughout Nebraska and western Iowa that spoke at Sunday evening’s event.
