One of Omaha’s most perplexing mysteries remains just that. Monday, June 13th marked 15 years since 19 year old Jason Jolkowski disappeared from the driveway of his home in Omaha. Jason’s mother, Kelly Murphy says her son’s car was in the shop and he was called into work early. He arranged for a ride to pick him up at Benson High School about seven blocks away. Murphy says her son did a few chores and got ready for work. His brother and a neighbor saw him leave the house but he never made it to the school.
Omaha police reviewed security video from the school and it appears he didn’t make it that far. Neither Omaha police or nor the family believe him to be a runaway.
Murphy says Jason’s vehicle was in the shop so he couldn’t use it to leave. He had about $60 on him at the time of his disappearance. He didn’t take money out of his savings account and took no clothing or personal items with him.
Murphy says, “Months went by, a year, two years, three years and nothing is different than day one except learn coping skills. It seems incredible that someone out there has the answers and we can’t find that person. That person isn’t coming forward and we know that person knows.”
Murphy is still in regular contact with Omaha police. Jason’s disappearance is listed as a homicide. Persons with information are urged to contact Omaha police or Crime Stoppers.
