The search for a 2 year old Nebraska boy continues after he was grabbed by an alligator at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa in Orlando Tuesday evening.
Officials say the boy’s parents jumped into the water to rescue their son, but failed to do so.
Grief counselor Veronica Sites says this tragedy comes at a time when many families have vacation plans to Disney World. She says children are aware of this tragedy and parents need to be prepared to tend to their emotions.
Sites says, “If your child indicates apprehension or doesn’t want to go or they become in their behavior apprehensive or clingy. While that happened we are going to do everything we can to keep you safe. Obey mom and dad and stay close to use. There is not a need to worry and we are going to do our best to move through this.”
Sites says children will need a lot of reassurance at this time to help them emotionally heal.
