A vacation for an Elkhorn family ended in tragedy Tuesday night when their 2 year old son was grabbed and pulled underwater by an alligator at a lagoon outside the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa in Orlando. Matt and Melissa Graves’ son, Lane was wading next to the shore when the tragedy happened. Officials say there were “no swimming” signs posted at the lagoon but Omaha attorney Bill Gallup says Disney likely should of done more to protect their guests.
Gallup says, “Disney was aware of the hazards. They know that you can’t keep children away from those lagoons. In fact that was a man-made lagoon designed to attract people down there so it is a serious question for Disney. They have to safeguard their guests.”
Gallup says you can put up a no lifeguard signs at hotel pools that states swim at your own risk but you still can’t limit your liability.
