The College World Series Fan Fest is today at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha followed by more than a week of action packed baseball. Those heading to the park are urged to take extra precautions in this weekend extreme heat.
Kindon Hawes is the EMS director for the Omaha Fire Department and says they will have crews checking on fans in the parking lots and inside the stadium. He says if they see someone that appears to be overheating, crews have water with them and they will call an ambulance if necessary.
Hawes says fans need to do their part as well. He says, “Take breaks in the shade. Drink as much water as you can. They can have a wet towel to help cool their core down that would help tremendously.”
Hawes says they will rotate their crews so the medics and firefighters don’t spend too much time in the sun.
