TCU has advanced to the bracket championship at the College World Series. Freshman Luken Baker slammed an opposite field homer to right in the first inning as the Horned Frogs beat Coastal Carolina 6-1. It was Baker’s seventh homer in the last 13 games.
“We knew coming into the game he would attack with fast balls and I got a fast ball up and away that I could handle and put a good swing on it”, said Baker. “I was actually a little more excited than I have for some in the past because it was my first opposite field one and it felt really good.”
Top seeded Florida is two and done as the Gators were eliminated by Texas Tech 3-2. For the Red Raiders, It was their first win at the World Series.
“I think it means a lot but we did not come just to win one game”, said Texas Tech coach Tim Tadlock. “We really came to try and compete and win the whole deal.”
The game ended when Red Raider left fielder Tyler Naslony cut down Florida’s Jonathan India trying to stretch a single into a double.
