Kansas City Royals All-Star outfielder Alex Gordon will join the Omaha Storm Chasers for tonight’s game against New Orleans as he continnues a rehab assignment.
Gordon has been on the disabled list since suffering a fractured wrist back on May 23 and went 5-for-15 with a doulde, a home run and three runs scored with AA Northwest Arkansas.
A winner of four straight Gold Glove Awards between the 2011-14 seasons, Gordon is only the second Royals player in history to win Gold Glove honors four straight years along with Frank White. He is also a three-time American League All-Star, and earned Les Milgram Royals Player of the Year honors during the 2011 campaign.
Gordon was named a First-Team All-American in his sophomore and junior seasons at the University of Nebraska, the second player in school history to achieve that honor twice. Gordon was the 2005 Golden Spikes Award winner and led the Cornhuskers to the College World Series that season. Prior to attending the University of Nebraska, he was a two-time Nebraska Player of the Year at Lincoln Southeast High School.
