Nebraska seniors Tommy Armstrong Jr. and Nate Gerry were named to watch lists for national awards.
Armstrong has been named to the watch list for the 80th annual Maxwell Award, given to the nation’s College Player of the Year since 1937. The native of Texas has made 33 starts in his Husker career and is closing in on Nebraska career records for passing yards, passing touchdowns, total offense and total touchdowns.
Gerry has been named to the watch list for the Bednarik Award, given annually to the College Defensive Player of the Year since 1995. The native of South Dakota has played in all 39 games the past three seasons, including 29 starts. He led the Huskers in tackles and interceptions in 2015.
