Mother Nature was not kind to Fremont overnight. That from Mayor Scott Getzchman who says a chain of weather events around 2 a.m. impacted the municipal water system.
Getzchman says, “The pumping system for the water plant went down for a minute or two when the power went out. The generators came on but the generators were actually struck by lightning and the pumps went down.”
Getzchman says everything is up and running now but as a precaution they issued a voluntary water boil order for the next 24 hours. He says the state was contacted and officials informed him since Fremont’s water is chlorinated there shouldn’t be problems. The boil order is a precaution.
