Pokémon Go is keeping police busy. La Vista Police Chief Bob Lausten says the number of calls to 911 is up. They received seven calls overnight regarding suspicious activity and vehicles. It turned out to be Pokémon players collecting creatures.
Chief Lausten issues a warning to players to be smart about this. He says citizens are going into unfamiliar areas to capture Pokémon and some of these areas are not safe after dark. He reminds players to be aware of their surroundings and be safe.
Members of the La Vista Police Department wanted to know what the craze was all about. Chief Lausten says, “Several captains played with it in the building and said let’s do something to get the kids involved. We decided to invite people down to Central Park and chase the creatures with a little help of police activity and have a little bit of community interaction.”
“Pokémon and Police in the Park” is scheduled for 1:30 Wednesday afternoon.
