The Omaha Storm Chasers had no answer for Salt Lake lefty Tyler Skaggs in a 2-0 loss to the Bees. Skaggs surrendered only one hit and struck out 14 batters in seven innings of work. The 14 strikeouts were the most for an opposing pitcher against Omaha since 2002.
“He had a good breaking ball early, he had a change up and located his fast ball in and out and up and down”, said Omaha manager Brian Poldberg. “You have got to tip your hat. There are some nights when a guy just has it working.”
Omaha starter Alec Mills took the loss. He yielded only three hits but was lifted in the sixth inning after giving up a pair of solo homers.
Designated hitter Irving Falu recorded his 661st career hit with Omaha to pull within one hit of tying Jed Hansen’s franchise record.
