Congressman Brad Ashford has amassed a considerable cash advantage over his challenger in the closely watched race for Nebraska’s Second Congressional District.
Campaign contribution reports show Ashford raised nearly $435,000 during the last quarter, bringing his total campaign cash to $1.7 million for the election cycle.
Ashford is a Democrat serving his first term in Congress after defeating incumbent Republican Lee Terry in 2014. He is being challenged by Republican Don Bacon, former commander of Offutt Air Force Base.
Bacon raised a bit more than $300,000 during the quarter which ended June 30th, raising his total to $659,000.
