A few eyebrows raised when the House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi arrived in Omaha Friday afternoon.
Many questioned why Pelosi was in Omaha. Second District Congressman Brad Ashford clears the air stating there seems to be a lot of drama made over having dinner.
“She was on her way to Des Moines. It is my understanding for meetings there and we had dinner. She is a colleague. Jim Clyburn was at dinner, too,” Ashford says.
Ashford says South Carolina Congressman Jim Clyburn was in Omaha to attend a rally in north Omaha on Saturday.
Ashford says Pelosi was not in Omaha to attend a fundraiser for his benefit.
He says Pelosi is a colleague and “if Jim Ryan (House Speaker) would come to Omaha I would love to take him to dinner, too.”
He calls Pelosi a colleague and the two have worked on many issues together.
Ashford says they dined at the Gray Plume restaurant in the midtown Omaha area.
