Nebraska football coach Mike Riley called it a day that will be stuck in time forever. Riley spoke with reporters the day after Husker senior punter Sam Foltz was killed in a car accident while attending a kicking camp in Wisconsin.
Foltz was a passenger in a car driver by former Michigan State punter Mike Sadler, who was also killed.
Foltz was a native of Greeley, Nebraska, and began his career as a walk-on. He was named a first team All-Big Ten selection in 2015.
“He was really proud of being a Nebraska football player”, said Riley. “He loved every bit of being a part of it and was a great example of one of those guys that came here, earned a spot and was really good.”
Riley and Husker players Tommy Armstrong, Josh Banderas and Jordan Westerkamp will not participate in Big Ten Media Day scheduled for today and tomorrow in Chicago.
