A 72-year-old man has been suffocated after being buried under bushels of corn in a grain bin in southern Polk County.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office reports rescue crews from York and Gresham arrived too late to save Gary Neujahr, who had been sucked to the bottom of the bin.
According to the sheriff’s office, Neujahr and a crew were working at the grain bin located at 12234 W Road this morning. Rescue crews arrived shortly before 10:30am. They dumped the corn out of the bin to get to Neujahr.
