A crop duster has been killed when his plane crashed northeast of David City.
The Butler County Attorney’s office reports 37-year-old Ragnar Emrich of Dorchester died at the scene of the crash in a cornfield near the intersection of County Road 38 and County Road O.
Authorities say a witness reported the crash shortly after 3 o’clock this afternoon. David City Fire and Rescue crews rushed to the scene. Emergency personnel restricted access to the crash site, because chemicals remained in the plane.
Emrich was flying the Emrich Aerial Spraying plane.
Both local and federal authorities are investigating the crash. Butler County Sheriff’s personnel are on the scene. Investigators from the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board will arrive soon.
