A driver has died after losing control of his car while apparently street racing in Omaha just after midnight this morning.
The Omaha Police Department has identified the victim as 33-year-old Armando Armas of Omaha.
Police say two cars were speeding near the intersection of 37th and Q Streets when one veered off the roadway, crossed a parking, and struck an unoccupied building at the Nice Look Salon at 3641 Q Street.
A police officer arrived at the scene and began administering CPR to Armas. Omaha Fire Medics arrived shortly thereafter and took over resuscitation efforts, but Armas was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Omaha Police Department put out the following statement:
Officers are looking for a white 1995-1998 Ford Explore with possible passenger side damage. Any citizen who might know information concerning this crash is asked to call the Traffic Unit at 444-5626 or Crimestoppers at 402-444-STOP (7867).
