A truck driver has been charged with misdemeanor motor vehicle homicide in the fatal crash that took the life of a 75-year-old man.
The Omaha Police Traffic Accident Squad charged 59-year-old Ronald Nootz of Bellevue after consulting with Douglas County Attorney’s Office.
According to the Omaha Police Department accident report, Nootz was driving a dump truck east on West Maple Road when he ran a red light at the intersection with 171st Street on the morning of July 22nd. The truck hit a sports utility vehicle broadside driven by Noel Lammers. The SUV overturned. Lammers was pronounced dead at the scene. He was the only occupant in the SUV.
Nootz was not injured.
