For the first time during fall camp the Nebraska football team conducted a practice in full pads. Husker coach Mike Riley says it was the first extended interaction between the offense and the defense.
“There was some obvious give and take”, said Riley. “Overall, I thought it was a good start in full gear.”
It was an inconsistent outing for quarterback Tommy Armstrong, especially in the 7-on-7 portion of the practice.
“It was all, frankly, a little bit rusty for everybody. We have been putting in a lot of plays and all of a sudden when your are doing it against people who are trying to stop it things change a hair.”
