A 19-year-old passenger thrown from a pick-up that hit a utility pole in western Nebraska has died.
The Nebraska State Patrol reports the driver, 23-year-old Joshua Bolzer of Mitchell, has been charged with drunk driving, motor vehicle homicide, and willful reckless driving.
Dead is Dereon Betancur.
Two other passengers, 19-year-old Thomas Riley and 19-year-old Braydon Wiedeman, suffered injuries in the crash and were taken to Regional West Medical Center.
All of those involved in the wreck were from Mitchell, according to the patrol.
NSP reports Bolzer lost control of the pick-up on the west side of Mitchell very early Saturday morning. The pick-up couldn’t make a curve, hit the pole, then hit a tractor.
Bolzer remains in the Scotts Bluff County jail.
