The 147th Nebraska State Fair officially starts today at Fonner Park in Grand Island. Nebraska State Patrol spokesperson Deb Collins urges fairgoers to stop by their booth.
Collins says, “Our booth is at the north end of the fairgrounds. Our Trooper Buck will be out there. We will have a car on display. We have some safety giveaways. The booth is not only staffed by sworn troopers but also by civilian staff as well so it is a chance to meet our State Patrol family you might say, all of us that are involved in activities and provide services for the citizens.”
Collins says this is one way Nebraskans can meet the people who help keep them safe. State troopers will once again be hard at work on the fairgrounds providing law enforcement security 24 hours a day during the fair. Troopers will be on bicycles, four-wheelers and on foot patrolling the grounds. The State Patrol Security Office will be located in the Fonner Park Racing Office.
Troop C- Grand Island will conduct two nights of special enforcement on August 26th and September 3rd in Hall County in an effort to reduce the potential for serious injury and fatal crashes.
