While U.S. Sen. Ben Sasse refuses to support Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, Sen. Deb Fischer is campaigning for him.
Fischer, a Republican, tells a Trump rally in Iowa the stakes are high this election with the shape of the Supreme Court and foreign policy at stake.
Fischer criticizes the Obama Administration for paying $400 million in cash to Iran as the same time that Iran released three American hostages.
“This administration has tried to keep a lid on it. They have misled Americans and why?” Fischer asks. “Because they don’t trust you with the truth. Well, I do. Our party does. Our nominee does.”
Fischer, chair of the Armed Services sub-committee on Emerging Threats, says it is more dangerous abroad that it was eight years ago.
Fischer made her remarks at Sen. Joni Ernst’s Roast and Ride event in Des Moines this past weekend. Other speakers included Ernst, Gov. Branstad and Sen. Chuck Grassley. Donald Trump closed the event.
