Two teams looking to bounce back from disappointing seasons collide in Memorial Stadium on Saturday night when Nebraska hosts Fresno State. The Huskers were 6-7 a year ago and expect to make significant progress this season under second-year coach Mike Riley.
“I feel great about going into the game”, said Riley. “I believe our guys will be fresh and our goal has been to have them prepared. If we are prepared and can play fast we will be all right.”
Fresno State is coming off a 3-9 season in 2015 and Bulldog coach Tim DeRuyter says his team will need to limit mistakes to have a chance to win.
“We know the challenge is going to be huge but fortunately we have made big strides ourselves”, said DeRuyter. “Defensively we are playing fast and we have got to get back to a defense that gets take aways to have a chance and then offensively we have got to do a good job of holding on to the football”
The Huskers won the two previous meetings in the series, including a 55-19 victory in Fresno back in 2014. Kickoff in Memorial Stadium is 7:00 p.m. and the game will be carried by BTN.
