Nebraskans are advised to keep a close eye on the sky later today. Van DeWald is a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Omaha and says there is a strong system coming out of the Rockies and that could cause some problems this afternoon and tonight that brings the risk of severe weather.
DeWald says, “There is definitely a hail and wind threat but some of these storms could produce tornados early in the event. Heavy rain is also a definitely a possibility – especially for any storms that move over the same location more than once would be very susceptible to very heavy rainfall.”
DeWald says these storms will mainly target those in the central and eastern parts of the state later this afternoon and evening.
