Nebraska coach Mike Riley says it is time to move on.
The Huskers landed in the Associated Press Poll at number 20 after a thrilling 35-32 win over Oregon and take a 3-0 record into their Big Ten opener at Northwestern.
Riley says even though it was a big win there are several areas that must improve as the Huskers embark on a nine game conference slate.
“It was a great win and obviously our biggest non league game but we can only use it because everything is ahead of us”, said Riley. “There are still a lot of correctable parts and I think this can be one of your hardest coaching jobs actually.”
Senior receiver Jordan Westerkamp says every week in the Big Ten is a battle and the Huskers need to take the momentum Saturday’s win provided and build on it.
“Obviously we beat a real good team in Oregon and it threw us up forward into the rankings”, said Westerkamp. “We have just got to continue to take that momentum and keep moving forward into Big Ten play.”
Northwestern is 1-2 heading into the conference race. The Wildcats opened with losses to Western Michigan and Illinois State but bounced back with a win over Duke.
