When 20th ranked Nebraska opens the Big Ten race at Northwestern no player will have a larger cheering section than Jordan Westerkamp. The senior receiver is a Chicago native and Saturday’s game will be his final one at Ryan Field.
“I will probably have over a hundred family members and friends there at the game”, said Westerkamp. “I am looking forward to it. It is home for me so to I get to go back and enjoy that and hopefully get some deep dish pizza after the game.”
Westerkamp’s most memorable moment against Northwestern came during his freshman season when he was on the receiving end of a 49-yard Hail Mary pass on the final play of a 27-24 Nebraska victory. His goal this week is to help the Huskers get off to a good start in the conference race.
“On any given day any Big Ten team can beat another Big Ten team”, added Westerkamp. “It is a real smash mouth and tough conference.”
