A Cass County sheriff’s deputy shot and killed a motorist during a traffic stop last night in Louisville.
The Nebraska State Patrol reports a Cass County deputy stopped a vehicle at 1st and Cherry Streets in Louisville, near the high school, shortly after 7 o’clock. The vehicle matched the description of one earlier reported as driving recklessly in the area.
A man got out of the vehicle and confronted the deputy. The deputy pulled his service weapon and fatally shot the man.
An autopsy will be conducted later today.
No names have been released.
A grand jury will be empaneled in accordance with state law to investigate the shooting.
