Detectives report their interviews revealed a pregnant 16-year-old was alone in her bedroom when she went into labor. She gave birth to a premature baby early Friday morning, shortly after four o’clock. Police say that after the infant was born, she threw the baby out the window. She informed her mother what she had done.
The teen-ager’s mother ran outside and found the baby in the grass. The woman called 9-1-1 and began performing CPR.
Omaha police say the investigation remains in its early stages. An autopsy has been ordered, but results aren’t expected for days. The Douglas County Juvenile County Attorney has been briefed on the investigation. Any charges are pending the results of the autopsy and the investigation.
