There is good news for a Papillion La Vista North senior injured in a football game last Friday. Brandon Steburg suffered a head injury and was rushed to a hospital and into surgery. He was in a medically induced coma for several days and is responding well to treatment.
Annette Eyeman is the director of communications for the Papillion La Vista School District and says the student body is rallying around Brandon. She says, “This will be the first football game, it is our Monarch homecoming game, since Brandon’s injury so the student body is wearing gray in honor of concussion awareness and in honor of Brandon. They will also be wearing wristbands. They have been selling wristbands at the school that have Brandon’s number on them.”
Eyeman says the Papillion La Vista South Titans played last night. In honor of Brandon the student body held a “grey out” at half time and the freshmen football players passed a helmet to collect money for Brandon’s family. Eyeman says this has been a very difficult time but it is wonderful to see the student body, the district and both communities pull together to support this young man and his family.
